Watchtower at the southwestern corner of the Inner City in 1920s. There were four watchtowers stood on four corners of the Inner City wall, but now only the one at southeastern corner exists.

The Shenwumen (Gate of Divine Might) is north entrance to the Forbidden City. The picture shows a square between the Shenwumen and Beishangmen (North Upper Gate) of Jingshan Park, a restricted area in the past. However, it was also taken as a market regularly opened to common people during the Ming Dynasty.

Tian'anmen Gate-Tower in 1959s. Built in 1417, the gate was the main entrance to the Imperial City during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
